Description

Jason talks about a pattern he sees when department leaders, such as scheduling directors and general superintendents, move away from serving the company's direction and toward protecting their own tools and area. He uses Patrick Lencioni's "team one" idea to explain why directors do their best work when their first loyalty is the leadership team, and why a department exists to enable the people building the work. He shares a hammer-versus-carpenter picture for hiring, where we hire for a craft and not just one software or instrument. He also announces that he appears in Paul Akers' upcoming book, Impact of Two Second Lean.

What you'll learn in this episode:

Is your department's work built around the tool it knows or the people it serves?
