Bangladesh’s garment industry employs more than 4 million people and is a 40+ billion dollar industry. Today, Mohammad Abdul Qaium, an industry veteran, discusses the challenges and opportunities for sustainability in his sector. Qaium emphasizes the need for collective action and policy initiatives to address greenhouse gas emissions, particularly focusing on tier-two facilities responsible for processing raw materials. 

 

Fund access remains a challenge, and the potential is huge, but we need more collaboration between industry stakeholders and policymakers. He highlights the importance of renewable energy certification and accessible technology to drive meaningful change towards a more sustainable future.
