Making a living from the land is proving increasingly challenging for the farming community, however many Essex farmers are demonstrating that diversification is a positive way forward and plays an important part in economic rural sustainability. In Episode 13 of the Essex Business Podcast, we look at some of the creative ways farmers are adapting their businesses to ensure they have more streams of income, as well as some of the challenges they are having to overcome.

Jake Richards, Essex County Adviser at the National Farmers' Union explains how farm diversification works, and we talk to Hannah Buckenham, Habitat Database Lead at Whirledge & Nott, about Biodiversity Offsetting. Farmer Kit Speakman also discusses the out of town office experience he has created alongside his working farm.
