Description

Christina Stang is the co-owner of Skateworld San Diego and Skateworld Tacoma. After growing up in the roller skating business, Christina and her husband purchased Skateworld San Diego in March of 2020, which we all know turned out to be an obscure time to buy a business. Hearing how Christina pivoted her business model during the pandemic and continued to thrive, even though the skating rink was closed for 396 days is nothing short of inspiring. Christina shares what the guest experience has been like since opening, full of praise from guests who were so thankful to go skating, along with the additional concerns brought on by having to enforce new policies and manage new friction points. Christina talks about how she finds inspiration to continually improve the guest experience, and stresses the importance of focusing on the user experience, including how guests are making their reservations and booking their timeslots to visit. She says that this is what also keeps Skateworld feeling fresh, while not losing sight of the nostalgia that is preserved.
