Multidisciplinary artist Kahentawaks Tiewishaw created in 2019 her first video game, “Karihonniennihtshera (Teachings),” which was featured at the imagineNATIVE Film and Media Arts Festival the same year. This interactive game is designed to teach words in Kanien’keha. Available on the website of her company, Revital Software, the story is guided by a young girl who follows her grandmother through vocabulary describing the fauna and flora around them. Imbued with the environmental values and knowledge transmitted by her family and community in Kanehsatake, Kahentawaks’s creations contribute to keeping her mother tongue alive and transmitting her culture to future generations.
