Phil Bayton rode as a professional between 1973 and 1989, winning stages of the Milk Race and a British National Criterium Championship. Riding for TI-Raleigh in the 1973 Milan-San Remo, he and team mate Dave Lloyd were told to 'just give it a go' and - famously - spent 5 hours and over 100 miles in a two-up breakaway.
Chris caught up with Phil recently to talk about his career, the up and downs and one glorious day in Newport.
