This week, we examine the subject of privilege. It has many forms, including white privilege, male privilege, and socio-economic privilege to name a few. How does this abstract subject have such a concrete impact throughout society. How does it manifest itself and what can done to mitigate its bias and residual effects?
Critics may argue that privilege is a myth that people use to make excuses for their shortcomings or failures when they can’t “get ahead,” while others maintain that privilege is real and has shaped societies nationally and in other countries around the world via cast systems, socio-economic class, race, ethnicity and gender.
How can the playing fields be leveled? And are those with privilege even aware sometimes they have it as an advantage? Listen as Amy Donaldson and Jasen Lee tackle this oft-debated topic.
