Description

On this episode of the Voices of Reason podcast, Jasen Lee discusses the affects of implicit bias and training methods on community policing with Maj. Scott Stephenson, director of Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) for Utah Dept. of Public Safety, along with Lt. Wade Bruer, bureau chief of basic training for POST.

Implicit bias refers to the attitudes or stereotypes that affect an individual's understanding, actions and decision making in an unconscious manner.

Each of these officers has spent years working on the street and training new recruits how to be effective agents of law enforcement. They share their knowledge and experience on what it takes to become a good police officer, and what impacts, if any, implicit bias plays a role in the job of a peace officer.
