Description

This week, Washington legislators are trying to fix statewide shortages of gloves, masks, ventilators, and hospital beds as we brace for a wave of COVID-19 patients.

Follow KIRO Radio reporter Aaron Granillo as he tracks this emerging public health crisis.

Dr. Stephen Anderson, a career emergency medicine physician at MultiCare Auburn Medical Center, is on the front lines of patient care. Rohit Shankar will take us inside the lab at the University of Washington that is testing thousands of people for coronavirus every day.

And Maurizio Maffi spent the past three days volunteering at a hospital in Italy. He's normally an orthopedic surgeon, and now finds himself working side-by-side the brave nurses and infectious disease experts managing a situation he says is "like a war." His daughter, Benedetta Maffi, is home from the University of Milan, quarantined in Brescia in northern Italy, and tells us what life might look like for us in a week or two.
