Sweden's Göteborg Film Festival wants to send one movie fan to a remote island for seven days to watch 60 movies alone.
The Göteborg Film Festival usually takes place in the city of Gothenburg, on the southwest coast of Sweden, for 11 days from late January to February. The festival normally gets about 160,000 visitors and shows about 450 films. However, the 2021 festival will be online because of the coronavirus pandemic.
#This year's festival won't include its usual events. But it will have "The Isolated Cinema," in which organizers will send one person to the island of Pater Noster, where they will stay alone in what was once a lighthouse keeper's house and watch movies.
The movie fan will be brought to the island by boat and given everything they need to stay there from January 30 to February 6, but they can't bring their phone. They will be asked to make a video diary of their stay, which will be shared online.
There will be one other person on the island for safety reasons, but the festival's artistic director, Jonas Holmberg, told CNN, "If everything goes as planned, they will never meet during the seven days."
Anyone can apply for the island trip by emailing the festival organizers by January 17, 2021.
