Michelle Obama is making a food show for children with a pair of puppets that will be released on Netflix.
The new show, called Waffles + Mochi, will be released March 16, and will be "all about good food: discovering it, cooking it, and of course, eating it," the former first lady wrote on Instagram.
The show will tell the story of two puppets who want to become chefs and travel the world looking for ingredients and meals to make. It also will include real people, including famous chefs, home cooks, kids and celebrities, while Obama will play a supermarket owner.
"Kids will love it," Obama wrote. But she said that adults will find it funny, too, and they may even get some useful advice.
"I wish a program like this had been around when my girls were young," she said.
Obama said the show is similar to her work with "Let's Move," a public health campaign she led as first lady. Its goal was to reduce obesity in children by helping families eat healthier food and exercise more.
The show is made by Higher Ground Productions, a company owned by Obama and her husband, former President Barack Obama. In 2018, the Obamas signed a deal with Netflix to make shows and documentaries. Michelle Obama released her Netflix documentary Becoming in May 2020.
The former first lady also has a podcast called The Michelle Obama Podcast on Spotify.
