@realDonaldTrump, the Twitter account of President Donald Trump, was shut down on January 8, after more than 57,000 tweets.
Trump used some of his final tweets to talk about the violent crowd of protesters that entered the halls of Congress on January 6, protesting against Joe Biden's election win.
Twitter announced that it shut down Trump's account because he could use it to encourage further violence from his supporters. Trump said that he would create another way of speaking to the world.
Trump began using Twitter in 2009, and used it at first to talk about things such as his books. However, when he started working in politics, Trump began using his account to criticize his opponents. Over the years, he has insulted many other people, including celebrities, politicians and even other countries.
Some days, Trump tweeted more than 100 times, often during the night. According to Factbase, a website that follows the president's social media use, Trump deleted more than 1,000 tweets. In the last few months, Twitter said that more than 470 of his tweets contained false information.
