The world’s oldest living couple, John and Charlotte Henderson, have celebrated their 80th year of marriage.
John is 105 and Charlotte is 106. They live in Texas in the US, and met at the University of Texas in 1934 and married in 1939 — the same year that World War II began.
Not only is John one half of the world’s oldest couple, but he is also the oldest living former University of Texas football player. He still goes to one of the team’s games every year.
He told Today about the first time he saw his wife; "Charlotte looked over her shoulder and smiled and I knew I wanted to take her on a date."
They don’t have any children, but are great uncle and great aunt to Jason Free, who helped get them recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest living couple in November 2019.
