Description

He is one of the greatest chefs of our era, once holding twenty-one Michelin stars across his restaurants simultaneously, a record that had never been seen before in the culinary world. He is Alain Ducasse, a boy who grew up on a farm in the Gascony countryside of southwestern France, learning respect and love for ingredients in his grandmother's kitchen.

At sixteen, he committed himself to becoming a chef and trained rigorously across the finest kitchens in France. In 1984, he survived a devastating plane crash near the Alps, an experience that transformed his relationship with cooking and deepened his gratitude for every day he could still stand behind a stove.

He created a legend in Monaco, guiding Le Louis XV restaurant to three Michelin stars in under three years. His empire spread across Paris, New York, Tokyo, London, and Hong Kong, with each restaurant telling its own story rooted in land and culture.

Yet what the world truly remembers about him goes beyond the glittering stars. It is his mission in culinary education, his commitment to sustainable and plant-forward cuisine, and those quietly powerful words he once spoke: the work of a chef is to translate the language of the land for people to hear.

In this episode, Jenny takes you deep into the legendary life of this giant of French cuisine, exploring the passion, the loss, the reinvention, and the love for food, culture, and the earth that has defined an extraordinary career.
