In the first episode of Dear Green Place, Pauline Moore hears about the first big local fundraising event of the year - The Burns Supper at Glasgow’s Double Tree by Hilton Hotel and we hear from Jackie Malloy the director of fundraising about the challenges and fun involved in raising £3.1 million a year. After a stroll up to the Bothy at the back of the hospice with architect Alastair Forbes and landscape designer Rolf Roscher, Pauline grabs a cuppa with Hilary Harris manager of the Bargacree cafe - the Hospice’s cafe which is open to the public. And Clinical Director Gillian Sherwood talks about her work in palliative care - which is specialised care given for physical and emotional problems related to a life limiting or life shortening illness for patients and those close to them. Gillian also talks about how the patient population getting support from the hospice is changing.
