The best birthday gift I could give myself? Getting back behind the mic and playing music for everyone (myself included)! Kicked things off with a whole lotta Jelly—The Jellybricks, Jelly Roll Kings, and Jelly Roll himself. Not sure how that happened, but hey, more Jelly to come!
Also spun a couple of tracks from the new Silver Patron Saints album—a powerhouse project featuring Billy Joe Armstrong, Bruce Springsteen, Spoon, and more, all coming together to raise funds for Jesse Malin after his rare spinal stroke. A lot of love in the music world!
And because birthdays deserve a killer playlist—Nick Lowe & Los Straightjackets, Pat Benatar covering ‘Just Like Me,’ Jimi Hendrix, Asia, Robert Palmer, Four Tops, Cream, Billy Squier… and plenty more musical presents for all of us!
As for the actual birthday treat? Marlene asked what kind of cake I wanted, and I said, PB&J cake! She delivered with the coolest peanut butter, crushed peanuts, creamy frosted cake with Sour Cherry preserves from American Spoon in Michigan. Perfection. 🎂💥
