Today we’re talking with entrepreneur and speaker, Tad Jacobs. Tad started Tree Masters over 30 years ago with a crew that consisted of himself, his dog, and his truck.
Before starting the business, Tad sat down and thought about what it was that he truly felt his career calling was. An avid adrenaline sport lover, the opportunity that tree work gave for him to take his active lifestyle to the “office” appealed to him. Tad started Tree Masters and has never looked back.
A thirst for adventure, Tad races mountain bikes and dirt bikes in his spare time. Loving the similar feeling that he gets when climbing trees, Tad will admit he may not be the best tree climber, but he loves the athleticism of what he does.
The Early Years Of The Business:
- In the early years, Tad has (like any business owner) equal times of excitement and frustration. During his most frustrating moments and hardest growing pains, it was the sense of accomplishment that came from a completed job that helped him press on.
- While the company started in 1987, it wasn’t until 1993 that Tad decided to solely focus on the business and dedicate himself to the industry. WIthin a year, he acquired a second company and grew his staff from 6 to 12 employees. Now, in 2019, the company has 40 employees.
- Early on, Tad learned that not all employees are the same. Hiring passionate workers who are willing to work hard, perform a job well, and help grow the company are the backbone of any successful business.

- Coming up with innovative and efficient processes for Tree Masters has been a large contributor to the success of the business. Because of his many years of experience creating these processes, Tad now speaks at conferences across the country as an authority on business efficiency operations.
