Unzip your Brunswick bowling ball bag, drop off the "ringer" filled with your dirty undies, grab a couple oat-sodas, and get ready to roll with Reel Poppycock as we wrap up our 3 film unit on the Coen Brothers by discussing their highly quotable masterpiece of a movie: "The Big Lebowski." Set in 1991, but released in 1998, and packed with wild situations and wonderful weirdos coming out of the woodwork; it did take some time for this film to achieve the cult classic status it currently enjoys.
Ed may not enjoy The Eagles, but he does admit his song "Mystery Woman" may have had some influence from one of The Eagles back catalogue. Ed also described "The Big Lebowski" as akin to the film version of "Seinfeld," making it a movie about nothing; but he insists that is not always a bad thing, especially if we enjoy hanging out with these crazy characters.
Jackie Treehorn may make one hell of a "Caucasian," but KC was not careful with their beverage here, man, by creating the "White Russian - Vermont Style." (Just add some authentic Vermont Maple Syrup to your Caucasian to perk up your taste buds.) And while KC may not prefer their In-N-Out Burger "animal style," they are a Dudist Priest, so they take pride in abiding by the ethos of The Dude.
Trevor's art has rarely been described as "vaginal," but he did enjoy Bunny Knutsen and her co-star in the beaver picture "Logjammin." Almost as much as he enjoyed dressing up as The Dude for Halloween a couple years ago, with his wife Emilee rocking a hot Maude Lebowski outfit. The real gift for Trevor, though, was getting to discuss one of his favorite films with his co-hosts for his birthday flick-pick. Can he survive the Poppycock Hot-Seat, or will his ice-cube-cheeks melt under the heat of the hardball quiz questions? You'll just have to listen to find out!
All of that fun stuff and more, (but no "funny stuff" as the Nihilists would say) on Reel Poppycock's episode on "The Big Lebowski," enjoy!
