Happy Halloween to all you horror-hounds and non-horror-hounds alike! Reel Poppycock rounds out their 2025 Spooky Season collection of movies with the first entry in what would become a multi B-B-Billion dollar franchise. That is correct, today we delve into the jump-scare jubilee "The Conjuring," released in 2013, and directed by James Wan.
K.C. did a lot of research into Ed & Lorraine Warren, the real life demonologist and clairvoyant couple who inspired these films. Are they just gifted grifters? Or is there something more menacing to their tales of supernatural scares?
Ed details some of his own real life spooky experiences, and his plans for N.I.G.H.T. Which will be the North Indianapolis Ghost Hunting Team. Ed also tests Trevor and K.C. on their knowledge of the actors who played famous movie monsters in a special Halloween edition of his Poppycock Pop-Quiz.
We've got Halloween hijinks, heaps of humor, and high praise for the cinematography of "The Conjuring," but maybe a bit of beef with some of the basic implications of what this film bases itself on, and its overall thematic moral message. So stop smashing pumpkins, and start smashing that subscribe button, since Spooky Season on Reel Poppycock is sure to cure your Halloween hangover. Enjoy!
