Listen

Description

This episode extends the Abroad Series in a live interview with Yvonne Nyahe, the executive director of Humanist Action Ghana-an NGO in Ghana dedicated to ending witchcraft accusations in northern Ghana. We speak of her personal experience and activist knowledge, Ghana's history of missionary work, its Northern Region, colonial history, demographics and much more.

In season 2, WWH investigates the real outcomes and lived experiences of Black Diasporic people negotiating religious dissent outside of the United States. These dynamics span accusations of witchcraft, indigenous practices, missionaries, prosperity gospel, authoritarian legislation, Queer/LGBTQ stigma, patriarchy and after-effects of European colonialism. "Bewitched in Ghana" is the penultimate episode of WWH’s season 2.
