In Matthew 8:18-22, we meet two (potential) disciples–one with career aspirations and another with cultural commitments–whom Jesus confronts with the cost of true discipleship. Their encounters with Christ reveal two questions we can ask ourselves today: Are we willing to choose his vision for our futures over our own? Is our relationship with him our most important relationship?
