Description

The Great Eclipse begins as our coverage of Berserk (1997) comes to a close. A year has passed since Guts left the Band of the Hawk, who are now outlaws wanted for treason. Griffith, overcome with despair, remains imprisoned in the depths of the Tower of Rebirth. Though Guts and his allies manage to rescue Griffith, the fallen hero is unable to come to terms with his shattered dream. Giving his flesh and blood to the Crimson Beherit, Griffith brings his comrades into the nightmarish Astral Realm. There, the four demonic sovereigns of the God Hand appear and offer Griffith a place at their side. Guts, Casca, and the rest of the Band of the Hawk fight until the bitter end as the God Hand claims them as sacrifices. As Griffith is reborn, Guts stands to lose everything he holds dear. On today's apocalyptic episode of Anime Was (Not) A Mistake, the Golden Age comes to an end and the Legend of the Black Swordsman begins...
