Description

We all know we have a duty to protect the public's health safety and welfare in our work. But let's take it beyond codes and look at the ethics behind HSW through the lens of user experience.

There are no current code requirements that consider user experience. However, the more we learn, the more it becomes imperative that we design buildings that empower people to be their best selves.

  1. Always tie project goals and ROI back to experience
  2. Do your research to understand specific design strategies that will impact users in a positive way and show the metrics behind your approach
  3. Once you do the homework, you've found your truth. Integrate that authenticity with a bigger purpose
  4. Share the truth from a place of love with your clients, not from the intellectual high ground or as an activist trying to force beliefs on others.
