Episode #445 of BGMania: A Video Game Music Podcast. Today on the show, Bryan and Bedroth are dusting off a forbidden tome, lighting a single candle, and peering into the cosmic unknown with a tribute to the master of weird fiction himself: H.P. Lovecraft! From the sunken city of R’lyeh to the gothic streets of Yharnam, we’re exploring games inspired by the Providence author whose sleeping gods, secret cults, and unknowable horrors have been creeping into video games for decades.
Somewhere between the first track and the last, you’ll freeze alongside the crew of a doomed North Sea oil rig, hack through a cursed jungle in search of a mound that should’ve stayed buried, hum along as Cthulhu himself crashes the Christmas carols, go on a very questionable date with the Black Goat of the Woods, and drift across a cosmic sea where the sky seems to stare back.
