Description

Nabeel Younis recently reached two major milestones: He finished his course work at a California university and obtained a green card.
Just about four years ago, Younis crossed the U.S.-Mexico border in search of asylum.
Younis fled his home country of Pakistan, where he faced persecution for practicing Christianity in a Muslim country.
Border Report has been following Younis’ story since before he set foot in U.S. soil. In that time, he took a treacherous trip with other migrants through Central America and Mexico; and he was locked up at a jail in Tijuana. Younis was then detained at an immigration facility in California before being placed on home arrest. But with the help of a sponsor, he was able to attend college in California as his case made its way through the courts.
Younis sat down for a one-on-one interview with Border Report’s Salvador Rivera in Camarillo, California, where Younis recently finished classes at California State University-Channel Islands.
