Apologies once again for the terrible audio. I'm almost through the batch I recorded with this bad microphone. Thanks for hanging in there with me.
Let's talk about speaking your truth. In my journey to become the hero in my story, speaking my truth has been an important aspect of my walk. A couple of mentors of mine described it with this simple comparison: the difference between using the word "but" and "and" when you are talking about your experiences. Boiled down, if we use "but" to describe an adverse childhood experience, it becomes a dichotomy where only one of two potential statements are true. However, they both are. If we use the word "and" to describe our experiences, we are holding space for both of them. The positive and the negative in our lives are both true.
