What does it mean to be empty of self? Jesus told us that the most important commandment was to love God and others. The single act of loving God and others means we are constantly seeking outside of ourselves. It means we are inviting and welcoming opportunities to be used by God for His glory. We do this when we love others— when we give of our time, resources, and energy. Once we commit to this kind of life— God pours an ever-flowing river of goodness that allows us to continue giving from overflow.
