Amanda Buhse has had some pretty exciting opportunities - wait… let me correct that, Amanda Buhse has created some really amazing opportunities for herself, and what we can learn from her is that one of the most important components of having larger than life opportunities, is how you respond to them.

Amanda Buhse: A multi-award-winning marketing maverick, entrepreneur, speaker, and overall creative force -  Amanda Buhse is the CEO and Chief Creative Officer of Coal and Canary. Her creative efforts  with Coal and Canary have been featured in numerous national and international media outlets  including, Forbes, the GRAMMY, Oscar, and Golden Globe swag bags, The Globe and Mail,  Good Morning America, Cameron Diaz’ The Body Book, Style at Home, Canadian Living and  many more. 

Before starting Coal and Canary, Amanda worked as a graphic designer and marketing  executive for companies both large and small in retail, fashion, and agency environments. The  experience she learned while working for this diverse mix of company's taught her valuable  skills that she brings to the table in her role at Coal and Canary each day.  

She’s passionate about creativity and harnessing its power to enhance every aspect of business  and life. Since 2014, Amanda has grown Coal and Canary into "Canada's favourite artisan  candle" according to Forbes Magazine, under Amanda's leadership.  

She was named “Female Entrepreneur of the Year” through the Women Business Owners of  Manitoba, as well as “Volunteer of the Year” through the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, and  most recently named “Top 5 North American Trailblazers” through the RevolutionHer Awards in  2021. She was a 2019 Spirit of Winnipeg Award winner in the trade category as well as “Best  Small Business of the Year Award” from the 2020 Tourism Winnipeg Awards of Distinction. Her  largest accolade to date came in early 2021, when Amanda was named a G20 YEA Canadian  Delegate for the global G20 Summit hosted by Milan/Rome which will focus on COVID-19 socio economic recovery, as well as a global renaissance, for inclusive, sustainable, and innovative  prosperity.  

Amanda’s leadership and commitment to the small business community are evident as she is a  current Board Member for the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, was Co-Chair of The Winnipeg  Chamber of Commerce 2019/2020 Small Business Advisory Council, and was also one of two  Chamber representatives chosen to sit on the Mayor of Winnipeg’s COVID-19 Business Task  Force, established in March 2020, to advise on the COVID-19 related impacts felt by the  Winnipeg business community. 

Amanda is a passionate voice in the female entrepreneurial scene in Canada and wants to  inspire audiences to trust their intuition and fearlessly show up in the world as the truest  expression of themselves. She loves to share her personal journey of how she overcame  tragedy and used it as fuel to succeed with a dream she never even knew had.  

Her most recent speaking highlights include clients such as Verizon, Wix, as well as numerous  school and business conferences and professional business organizations. 

In her spare time, you’ll find her singing, cooking, painting, or spending quality time at the cabin  with her family, husband Jeff, and little dog, Pancakes.
