Description

Older Australians were already some of the nation’s most isolated people – so how can we ensure COVID-19 restrictions don’t cut them off further?

CQU Adjunct Professorial Research Fellow Dr Lynne Parkinson is passionate about reducing social isolation for vulnerable groups, and explains how smartphones can provide a solution for COVID-19 lockdowns and beyond.

Lynne says video messaging apps such as Messenger and Whatsapp can help the elderly connect with family and friends, and believes the perception that older people cannot understand or use technology is more about ageism than reality.
