No one exemplified peace and free love more than Beatles co-founder, John Lennon. At the height of 'Beatlemania', he seemed to be loved by all. All except one. On the night of December 8th 1980, Mark David Chapman shot Lennon four times, then sat down to read J.D. Salinger's "The Catcher in the Rye" until police arrived. Why would someone want to kill a man as peaceful as John Lennon? Why didn't anyone notice Chapman's downward spiral into madness? Is "The Catcher in the Rye" that good, or just a high school reading assignment about a stuck up kid?
