This week we talked to Miriam Avery about how she found herself in A&E doing mental health nursing in the middle of a pandemic.
Miriams bio:
I am a mental health nurse from Manchester, currently working in the central A&E department assessing the mental health needs of patients who present there. Since qualifying as a nurse in 2013 I have also worked in a children's eating disorder service, completed a master's degree in clinical research, and have worked on many different research projects including for covid treatments. I am really interested in the intersection between mental and physical health care and am due to start a PhD next year focused on improving services which bring these two things together for young people. When not at work in a bid to look after my own mental health I can sometimes be found Djing around Manchester or playing instruments very badly, as well as trying to get tough enough to do winter wild swimming!!
