Listen

Description

Listen to our conversation with Dr. George Dallam, PhD, one of the foremost voices in the science of breathing and athletic performance. Dr. Dallam holds
the rank of Distinguished Professor in the School of Health Science and Human
Movement at Colorado State University–Pueblo, where he pioneered research on nasal breathing impacts on exercise physiology and health and performance. He is also the former National Team Coach for USA Triathlon and has worked with elite athletes including Olympians, Pan American Games medalists, and the top-ranked male triathlete. A two-time honoree of the U.S. Olympic Committee's Doc Councilman Science in Coaching award and National Elite Coach of the Year, he's also the author of The Nasal Breathing Paradox During Exercise. In short: when Dr. Dallam talks breathing, it's worth listening.

In this episode, we cover:
-Nasal vs. mouth breathing during exercise — why how you breathe may
matter as much as how hard you train.
-VO2 max adaptation and breathing — what the research says about
performance and breathing route.
-Nasal breathing's impact on reducing stress and improving sleep — the
everyday benefits that extend well beyond the workout.
