Christopher Cuevas, Executive Director of QLatinx in Orlando, shares the story of how this grassroots organization was born in the aftermath of the Pulse nightclub shooting on June 12, 2016. He speaks to the pain, healing, and collective power that emerged from that tragedy, and names the layered oppressions faced by LGBTQ+ Latinx communities—including barriers to culturally competent mental health care, marginalization within mainstream LGBTQ spaces, and lack of legal protection.
