Description

Happiness. What is it? Where does it come from? How do we get more of it? (The concept, not the Todd Solondz film, which is great.) This episode's guest is Dr Dean Burnett: author, neuroscientist, ex-Guardian blogger, stand-up comedian, really lovely Welsh man. In his book The Happy Brain, Dean talks to various people from many walks of life about what makes them happy. We spoke to him in darkest Chorleywood, during his book tour, and discussed the pressures on men, the futility of a search for a 'state' of happiness, and why The Avengers is a good thing for male mental health.

Also:

• Tim and Andy watch a terrifying horror film and decide it's about mental health not ghosts.

• Andy uses the word 'catharsis'.

• How road rage and having wine spilled on you highlights the key problem with finding happiness.
