God's people are to be distinct not only in the way we live and the values we hold, but in how we speak to and about one another, to be life-giving speakers, whose words are "good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear" (Eph 4:29).
This is never easy or natural for recovering sin-addicts. In fact, to renounce slander and gossip might be one of the most counter-cultural things we can do.
