Description

Today's guest is someone i've known since grade school, he is a fun guy to have a beer with or have deep thought provoking conversations with. 

Phil Monin is a mathematician and financial economist at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, DC, where he conducts research on financial intermediaries such as broker-dealers and hedge funds. Previously he was an economist at the Office of Financial Research studying financial stability issues.

He has been published in various mathematics and finance journals and his research has earned several awards. He holds a PhD in mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin, is a CFA charterholder, and is a certified FRM. As if that all is not enough, he also teaches part time in the graduate program in mathematics and statistics at Georgetown University. He lives in northern Virginia with his wife and two children.
