When we hear the word “evangelism,” many of us understandably recoil. It’s a word that has so much baggage that it’s tempting to drop the word from our spiritual vocabulary and perhaps to drop the whole idea of evangelism altogether. But in today’s sermon, we’ll try to strip away the baggage and explore the original meaning of the “e-word.” In the process, we’ll discover what evangelism meant to Jesus, the surprising way he did it, and what his example means for us today.
