The One Thing: Transformed through generosity
Scripture: Luke 12:13-21
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
KNOW CHRIST AS KING
K1. What does Jesus’ refusal to settle the inheritance dispute in verse 14 teach us about His role as King? Why might He redirect the conversation from fairness to greed and the heart?
K2. In what ways does recognizing Jesus as King transform how we think about money, security, and success? How does this challenge cultural messages we often hear?
GROW IN GROUPS
G1 Why do you think Jesus tells this parable to a crowd, rather than just the man who asks the question? What does this say about the importance of learning and growing together?
G2 The rich man speaks only to himself in verses 17–19. How can isolation lead us away from generosity and God’s wisdom? How can Christian community help us keep our priorities in check?
G3 What’s one way your group or family could encourage each other to be more open-handed and less anxious about possessions? How might this reflect God’s kingdom to others?
SHOW UP AND SERVE
S1 Jesus calls the man in the parable a “fool.” What made him foolish, and how might we avoid making the same mistake with our resources? What would it look like to be “rich toward God” in your daily life?
S2 Where do you sense God inviting you to “show up” this week—with your time, money, or energy—in a way that blesses others and reflects His generosity? What’s one small but tangible step you can take?
