He is a three-time World champion (2018, 2019, 2021), a 2018 Olympic bronze medalist in the team event, the 2017 Four Continents champion, a three-time Grand Prix Final champion (2017, 2018, 2019), and a five-time U.S. national champion (2017–21). Chen grew up in Salt Lake City and began skating at age three. As his skills grew, he began to look beyond his hometown for a different kind of inspiration.
