A prison program called Reflection forces violent offenders to relive their victims' deaths through a neural interface, creating intense empathy and drastic reform for many. Adam, a man sentenced for a fatal stabbing, must endure weekly simulated deaths while he struggles to cope.
Meanwhile, prisoner 9089, a calm serial killer, emerges serene after each session because the simulations give him a peaceful death he never had, raising questions about justice, mercy, and whether relief from suffering can ever be considered a crime.
