People often overcompensate outwardly to cover inward insecurity, and if we’re honest, our actions can sometimes be more about approval than obedience. Jesus addresses this directly in Matthew 6:1, reminding us that God is not impressed by public displays done for attention; He looks at the heart. When we give, pray, and live with sincere motives—done in humility and not for appearance’s sake—God promises to reward us openly, even when our faithfulness begins in secret.
