What does it really mean to be merciful?
In this episode of Men on Mission, Jon and Dean unpack Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:7: “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall be shown mercy.”
Building on the first half of the Beatitudes, they show how mercy flows out of a life that has been emptied of self and filled with God’s righteousness. Biblical mercy is more than withholding judgment—it is compassion in action, stepping into broken situations to address injustice, alleviate suffering, and point people toward restoration.
This conversation challenges common cultural ideas of empathy, clarifies the relationship between mercy and justice, and offers real-life examples of mercy lived out through adoption, service, leadership, and family discipleship.
