Description

Hebrews 2:5–9

Introduction: The Ideal Man!

Main Idea: Jesus is the Better Man who became what we could not be and wins back what we could not regain.

1. God’s Original Design for Mankind (vv. 5–8a)

• Humanity was created for glory, honor, and dominion. (Genesis 1:26-28)
• Scripture affirms our affirms our intended role (Psalm 8)
• God’s plan for Human Beings: Ruling creation as God’s image bearers‑.

2. Man’s Present Condition (v. 8b)

• Man’s sin brought about his fall and shattered our intended mastery. (Romans 5:12-19)
• "Man is not what he was meant to be." - G. K. Chesterton
• The cross exposes humanity’s failure—our judgment revealed in rejecting Christ.

3. Christ Restores What We Lost (v. 9)

• Jesus entered our condition.
• Christ’s suffering was necessary, purposeful, and redemptive. (Luke 24:25-26)
• Through Jesus, humanity’s destiny is restored.

Conclusion & Application

• Remember your God-given‑ identity as an image-bearer.
• Face the reality of human brokenness with honesty.
• Look to Jesus when you feel defeated.
