Description

Darkness -

my soul, sinks into formless depths of deep uncharted abyss,

No shape, no life, no beauty, just dark empty nothingness.

Until 4 words were spoken

4 words that caused everything to be right,

The creator of the universe

commands, “Let. . there. . be. . light. .”

In an instantaneous moment, sunlight pierced through empty dark skies

At the moment where everything else dies,

life burst into quiet places before my very eyes

Silencing the voices that led to my demise.

Golden drips of sunlight streaked down clouded window pains to my heart

And like a fog lifting in the sunlight, the deep despair began to part

I stood there, for what seemed like forever, just standing in one place

I stared at the sun as it engulfed, overtook, saturated, my face

Like statically charged particles the sunlight danced across my skin

After completely illuminating me, it began to burn within.

What once was broken pieces that I tried to keep out of sight,

Began to burst with color from the spoken word of light.

The more I understood the sun, the more my words were at a loss

This sun that brought me warmth, once hung on a cross.

Yet all around me. .

Those who I see every day

Still dead and dying

Their heart full of decay

Heads hung in dismay

And i’m left with nothing to say

They rip at their chest,

pounding their flesh

In desperation they look to the sky

Crying out with their hands lifted high

like an animal ready to fight

They plead, “Let. . There. . . Be . . . LIGHT!

Then the light around me starts to speak

Until my knees grow weak

“you have the answers they seek”

It says pointing at me

But what could it be?

“You are the light of the world” he gave me the cue

Glorify my name in all that you do!

For A city on a hill can’t be hidden

So go, Illuminate your father in heaven

And so I stepped into the dark

Oh how I wanted to run

But this light cannot be overcome

So to you I plead for this desperate human race

Let Christ’s light illuminate your face!

So wherever you go may you get this one thing right,

As you represent Christ, Let . .  there. . .  be. . . . light!
