A shepherd’s staff guides and protects. Feeding the lambs sometimes requires correction. Correction without compassion wounds; compassion without truth leaves the flock exposed. The apostle Paul instructs us to restore the erring in a spirit of meekness (Galatians 6:1 KJV). Practical application: before correcting, pray for humility, speak in private, and offer a path to restoration. Use Scripture to guide the conversation, not your assumptions. As a gardener prunes a vine, the cutting is painful but produces fruit.
