One of the more recent trends in film is to create a feature film that is either a prequel or sequel to a successful TV show, allowing the opportunity to capitalize on the franchise equity without having to do a revival or reboot. The most recent instance of this is The Sopranos’ prequel The Many Saints of Newark. Of course films like this are hard to critique simply by their nature but, in this episode, we throw out all of our thoughts on this initial attempt at a spin-off of The Sopranos and whether the experiment was worthwhile.
