Introduction:
• Who?
o God (elohiym) plural
1. God the Father
2. God the Son
3. God the Holy Spirit
1 John 5:7 7For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
Genesis 1:26 - And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
o 1 God, 3 distinct persons
• What?
o Creation of “the heaven” and the earth
• Where?
o The entire universe
• 1 Chronicles 29:11 - Thine, O LORD, [is] the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all [that is] in the heaven and in the earth [is thine]; thine [is] the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.
• Colossians 1:16 - For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

• Isaiah 40:12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?

2. 70% of our earth is the ocean
3. estimated 50 to 80% of life on planet earth is underwater
4. Average depth of the ocean is 12,000 ft. light only goes to 330 ft.
5. longest mtn range is not the Andes mtns, its the Mid-Atlantic Ridge
6. The smithsonian does not have the world's most treasure and artifcats, they are underwater
7. We've explored an estimated 5% of the ocean
8. As the heathen sits in the seat of the scornful mocking our God, let's remember that the large body of water we are limited to exploring and understanding (70% of our world) can be measured in the palm of God's hand.
Psalm 19:1 1To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
Notice, in Psalm 19:1 “His Handywork”
o Handywork – work 189 times, needlework 5 times, acts 4 times, labour 4 times, doing 4 times, art 3 times, deed 3 times, misc 23 times;
o In other words, God’s creation was his finger work, His Lightwork
• How much? By way of Introduction, 3 things about Genesis 1
A. Accurate
Doesn’t Contradict- Rom 1:20
Romans 1:20 20For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
All that is written in God’s Holy Word shows Him as our Creator. There is nothing in bible that disproves creation, it always points back to it.
Men change, God doesn’t.
Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
The Bible is written on the foundation that God created the earth. There is no contradiction. As we read the Bible it shows God as our Divine Creator.
1. Power of God
2. Plan of God
3. Peace of God- Phil 4:7 “and the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
All of this reflects on God as our creator. -
Isa 64:8 But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.
Doesn’t Confuse- 1 Cor 14:33
1 CORINTHIANS 14:33 KJV "For God is not the authour of confusion, but of peace, as in all Churches of the Saints."
Gen 1 is simple to understand, we have a divine creator, we are His creation. You don’t have to be a math matician, have a PHD to understand Gen 1.
When we believe we can relate to a child like faith. We may have some things we do not fully understand, or comprehend, but God is not the author of confusion. We may not understand all of Gen 1 but it will not confuse.
Evolution can confuse
Doesn’t Corrupt- Ps 31:3
Psalm 31:3 3For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.
If we stand for the creation in Gen 1 we acknowledge God as our creator. When we read His Word and live His Word that is life that doesn’t lead to corruption. John 14:6. The Bible tells us the only way to heaven. What does Evolution do? Or Athiesm (O’hare) Hinduism, Muslims? Etc..If you take out Gen 1, then you take out God as our Creator and ruler. Take that out, then what is our base for morals? What is right, what is wrong?
B. Attacked
Truth-
Why is it attacked? Gen 1:1, This verse is probably the most attacked of the entire chapter. If God created us then what He says in His word is true. We are born sinners, Jesus is the only way, Hell is real,etc.. this is why Gen 1 is so attacked!
o Athiesm(no God)/ Agnosticism(is there a God?)- His existence
o Polytheism(Many gods)- Declaring Himself one
o C.Panthiesm(all is God)- By separating Himself from matter
How is it attacked?
Man-Evolution, Athiesm
The Devl- Gen 3:4 “And the serpant said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die.”
Time- Gen 1:5,8,13,19,22,31. There are a lot of theories about Gen 1. First of all Genesis one is NOT A THEORY! The Bible is very straight forward about what happened in the Beginning. There were 6 literal days! Many people will attack this chapter and add to it. (not much has changed)
1. Day age theory- That the days mentioned are not 24 hour days but as ages/ periods of time
2. Gap theory- Between vs. 1 and 2 there is a gap of countless ages ( fit for man)
3. Revelation theory- Believe that days are not days of creation but of revelation to Moses
4. The Truth
a. Supernatural- Ex Nihilo- out of nothing
b. Sudden- no build up, no delay, no trial, no error, no process, no gradual development
c. Superior- animals adapted to environment and have all that is necessary to surive and live.
d. Superficial Appearance of Age- Creation was fully complete and functioned from the beginning. God supernaturally created a full grown earth in 6 literal days. The earth did not need time or billions of years to do certain things. *when you believe these theories man have came up with it helps them satisfy their opinion of long period of time to form the earth.
Trinity- Gen 1:26
The Trinity- God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.
Another reason why Gen 1 is attacked is because of the Trinity. The Trinity is the great three in one. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. This is the great three in One. This shows Jesus Christ as God almighty. *illustration of how that is attacked* ( “lets weigh the evidence- Barry Burton” 1 Tim3:16)
A lot of false religions believe in Jesus but they do not proclaim Him as Lord. Rev 1:8
C. Absolute
Absolute- Perfect in quality or nature; complete. 2. Not mixed; pure. See Synonyms at pure. 3. a. Not limited by restrictions or exceptions
Outline:
I. Day 1- vs. 1-5
• Heaven
• 1st Heaven – clouds
• 2nd Heaven – Outer Space
• 3rd Heaven – Throne of God
• Earth
• Was empty, no form (the way God created it)
• Light – physical light (v.14-19 sun moon and stars but those are light sources)
II. Day 2- vs. 6-8
• Firmament and waters
• Waters separated
i. Oceans rivers and lakes
ii. Atmosphere and vapor
III. Day 3- vs. 9-13-dry land, plant life
IV. Day 4- vs. 14-19- sun, moon, stars
Job 38:7 suggest God created angels on this day
Job 38:7 7When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
V. Day 5- vs. 20-23- fowl and fish
VI. Day 6- vs. 24-31- Animals and Man
o Man is the highlight
o Man has dominion over the earth
Conclusion:
I. No Authority
Romans 13:1 - Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Colossians 1:16 “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:”
II. No Absolute
Absolute - a value or principle that is regarded as universally valid or that may be viewed without relation to other things: (good vs evil)
Romans 12:21 - Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
Illustration of what people do by defining good and evil (homosexuality, etc)
Isaiah 5:20 - Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
III. No Accuracy (truth)
