This season of Lent, leading us to Easter 2024, we'll be walking through a series called Wounded Words: Jesus Speaks from the Cross. The series highlights the seven last "words" (phrases) Jesus speaks while being crucified. Themes and quotes from the book Cross-Shattered Christ (by Stanley Hauerwas) will be sprinkled throughout. In this episode, we explore one of the most heart-breaking sentences in the bible: "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?" This cry from Jesus comes from a very specific place and represents much more than the isolation Jesus felt on the cross.
