Known as the first "true penitentiary," Eastern State Penitentiary introduced the idea of solitary confinement to the world. Notable inmates included Al Capone and Pep "the Cat-Murdering Dog" - a literal dog. Reports of paranormal activity range from voices and apparitions of prisoners to violent physical activity. Today the facility hosts daytime and ghost tours, along with museum exhibits to deepen the discussion about incarceration in our country.
