There were two examples (actually 3) for diaphone.
The first is from a video of Harry Barry (I have to assume that's his real name) describing how a Type F Diaphone fog horn works. I never knew I wanted to see this. I urge you to watch this video. He seems like a fun guy.
The second example (of 2 diaphones) is from here. It's a little diaphone "call and response".
